At that point you could mine gems much more efficiently anyways, and they could be put towards speedups, experience books and the like. So, when should you mine gems? I think it would make much more sense to raid those deposits after you’ve finished max leveling your buildings. So, even though you unlock the jewelry skill for gem deposit mining early on, it’s best if your attention is focused on stockpiling and having enough resources on hand to keep your upgrading process moving smoothly. Resources being the key ingredient for training all those troops, upgrading those buildings, getting those technologies researched. On the way to this destination you’ll need lots of resources. Joining an alliance and completing certain quests also gives you some free gems. The research titled ‘Jewellery’ must be completed in the Academy to obtain these gems. Collect these gems by sending your troops to the location. The main goal to work towards, if kingdom power is your thing, is to level your key buildings to 25 and be able to create tier five troops led by strategically leveled commanders. To get free gems be on the lookout for a ‘pile of gems’ on the map. Sure, gem deposits should be mined, but not until you’ve advanced….advanced a lot. The reality and strategy of the situation is actually a bit off from those first impressions though. With gems being the rare and important resource that they are you probably thought “I’ve got to mine those ASAP!”, or at least I did. If you’ve been playing Rise of Kingdoms for any amount of time you’ve probably noticed all of those alluring gem deposits scattered around the map.
